Perhaps you have heard whispers about our recently published 2011 Greenhouse Gas Report. We wanted to do a blog post laying out some of the key findings, as well as what we will be doing in the coming year to ensure we keep on track for our 30% reduction by 2020. We are really proud to say that so far, we have hit a 24% reduction and continue to make changes which will ensure we exceed our target.
We recently published our 2010 Greenhouse Gas Report with the big help of Climate Smart this year. The report looks great and we couldn’t have done it without them.
Here is a quick snapshot of our progress since 2008:
Some of the key findings from the report include a jump in emissions due to a stronger economy.
This year we included the amount that has been offset by our clients using the Zero Carbon Neutral Printing Program, and it accounted for 14% of the total emissions created by the paper for client projects. This may not seem like a very high number, but it turned out to be 1,777 metric tonnes of CO2 which is no small feat!
We also included the carbon emissions of waste going to the landfill which was not previously included.
Some reduction strategies we are exploring include changing out lighting to more efficient LED technology, reviewing equipment for leaks and creating a company wide power reduction strategy.
To learn more about what is in the report, please visit our website to check it out (PDF). It’s so beautiful and would love some readers!
Have a great week everyone.
